Green Room and Green 2 Room at The Limes have been having a brilliant few weeks, with their core book, outdoor challenges and some fantastic maths weaving through everything!

The Tiger Who Came to Tea has been a huge hit, with the children engaging brilliantly with the humour of the story. We have extended the book into the wider provision too, using it as a springboard for thinking about “how many” and developing number counting knowledge in a way that feels exciting and relevant to the children.

Letter shapes have also been a focus, with the children thinking about the shapes of the letters in their own names and exploring what movements they can make to recreate them. It is a really fun and physical way to begin building early writing skills and letter recognition.

Out in the garden, things have been just as lively! The children have been taking on the challenge of jumping as far as they possibly can, and the enthusiasm has been incredible. It has also sparked some brilliant early thinking about measurement and distance as the children began wondering how they could measure their jumps. The new digging resources have been equally popular, with children relishing the physical challenge of using a large spade to dig and turn the soil.

Back inside, snack time has been a lovely opportunity to explore repeating patterns together, slipping some early mathematical thinking into an everyday moment.
