We have been focusing on the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” and explored the different animals, their colours and other features, their actions, movements, and habitats through engaging activities. The children enjoyed the sounds these animals were making and created a trail in the garden, bringing the story into the outdoor environment.

We followed the trail, made noises, and imitated their movement whilst developing physical coordination and imaginative play. The children also created dens and spaces where animals can live, exploring the concept of habitats and what creatures need to survive whilst building construction skills.

We also explored colours and colour-mixing through mark-making indoors and outdoors, creating colourful images across the nursery. This artistic exploration connected directly to the vibrant colours in the story whilst helping children understand how colours combine and change, developing both their creative expression and scientific thinking.
