This week we have continued to deepen our understanding of our core book “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” The children have been role playing the characters, using different voices and movements as we use our Helicopter Stories as a vehicle for this dramatic exploration. This approach helps children develop confidence in performance whilst understanding character and narrative through physical and vocal expression.
We have made porridge too and enjoyed testing if it was too hot, too cold, or just right, bringing the story to life through real cooking experiences. This hands-on activity connects the narrative to sensory exploration whilst teaching children about temperature and food preparation.
The children continued their imaginative play in the garden areas by making porridge in the sand area and mud kitchen too, extending the story into their outdoor play and creating their own versions of the bears’ breakfast. This child-led play shows how deeply the story has captured their imaginations.
