Lots of lovely things have been happening in Willow this week at The Limes! Following the children’s interest in bridges, our core book is now “The Three Billy Goats Gruff.” The children have loved acting it out with small world toys and recreating the story with our bridge in the garden, bringing the narrative to life through imaginative play and physical exploration.
We have also continued exploring bridges with blocks, drawing our designs first to plan our constructions, in the clay through sculpting and modelling, and in the water using guttering to create channels and pathways. This multi-faceted exploration has deepened children’s understanding of structure, balance, and engineering concepts through different materials and contexts.
We have started thinking about Christmas, exploring some simple Christmas collage and decorating our Christmas tree in the classroom! These festive activities introduce seasonal traditions whilst developing creativity and fine motor skills through decorating and crafting.
