This week, children at The Rosemary Nursery School have been engaging in a variety of enriching activities that support their development across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
In Class 2, children have continued to explore creative expression by decorating a pumpkin in imaginative ways. Using their pincer grip to carefully push matchsticks into the pumpkin’s thick skin, they have been developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination—key components of physical development within the EYFS.
Literacy and imaginative play have also been a focus, with children enjoying the nursery school’s core book, Peace at Last. Through role play, they have brought the story’s bear characters to life, deepening their understanding of narrative and enhancing their communication and language skills.
Music and movement have played a central role in the week’s activities. Children have been learning about rhythm by tapping along to familiar songs using drums, supporting their expressive arts and design development while fostering a sense of timing and coordination.
Outdoors, the nursery school’s garden has become a hub of exploration and construction. Children have been building dens using blocks and large pieces of fabric, experimenting with spatial awareness and problem-solving as they navigate and adapt to small spaces.
The Rosemary Nursery School continues to provide a rich and varied early years learning environment, where children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow through play.
