This week in Red Class at The Limes, the children have been exploring the theme of Bonfire Night and fireworks. They enjoyed creating colourful firework pictures and making their own paper sparklers, using a range of materials to express their ideas creatively. Alongside their artwork, the children talked about the importance of staying safe around fireworks and shared their own experiences and knowledge. They also thought about other celebrations where fireworks might be seen, including New Year, Eid and Christmas, helping them to learn about different traditions and communities.
The children have also been having fun playing with language through songs and rhyming activities. Together, they thought of new words to replace familiar lyrics and explored words that rhyme with the originals. They then challenged themselves to think of rhyming words linked to their own names, developing their listening skills and growing confidence with sounds and language.
In Sunshine Group, the children have been reflecting on what makes them special and what they are good at. They talked thoughtfully about personal strengths, with one child sharing that Sunshine is good at giving hugs. Many children felt proud to say that they are good at drawing and painting. These conversations have helped the children build confidence, recognise their abilities and celebrate the achievements of themselves and others.
