Yellow Room at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School has had a wonderful week bringing We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to life in lots of different and exciting ways!
The children have been retelling the story using props, acting it out and exploring it through sensory storytelling, giving them lots of different ways to engage with the familiar tale and develop their language and communication skills. Each approach has helped the children connect with the story on a deeper level, from the swishy swashy grass to the splashy sploshy river.
The children have also been doing some brilliant problem solving, thinking about how the family in the story might get across the river. They have been busy making their own boats to help the family cross safely, which has been a fantastic way to encourage creative thinking, design skills and teamwork.
