This week in Class 2 at Rosemary Nursery School, children have been enjoying a range of exciting experiences that support their curiosity and development across the curriculum. They have been exploring sound through a variety of musical instruments, experimenting with how different actions create different noises. This hands-on exploration supports children’s early understanding of cause and effect, as well as developing listening skills and expressive arts.
Children were also fascinated to watch a video of their class butterflies that hatched over the holidays. This prompted thoughtful conversations about change and growth, as children began to talk about life cycles and what living things need to thrive. Sharing and reflecting on this experience helped to build communication skills and encouraged children to ask questions and express their ideas.
Out in the garden, children have been developing their gross motor skills using the new rope swings. They showed determination as they practised balancing, holding on and coordinating their movements. These physical challenges support strength, confidence and resilience, while also giving children the opportunity to take managed risks in a safe environment.
