This week we have been continuing our investigation into pumpkins and Yayoi Kusama’s artwork, exploring the artist’s distinctive polka dot style. We have been making our own artwork using dots and paper pumpkins, experimenting with pattern and repetition whilst developing fine motor control through careful dot placement.

We have been reading and retelling our core book “Lima’s Red Hot Chilli,” deepening our understanding of the narrative whilst building confidence in storytelling and developing sequencing skills through repeated readings. The children have been building big structures using our big wooden blocks, exploring balance, stability, and spatial awareness through collaborative construction and problem-solving.

We have been learning about babies through role play, books, and talking about how we used to be babies in our mummy’s tummy!

This exploration helps children understand growth and development whilst building empathy and nurturing skills through caring for baby dolls and discussing their own early experiences.
