The children have had a busy week celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week and Anti-Bullying Week, exploring language, music, and kindness through engaging activities.
Children have been learning the songs “When I Was One,” “Two Little Dickie Birds,” “Humpty Dumpty,” “Incy Wincy Spider,” and “I Hear Thunder,” developing their memory, language skills, and rhythm through repetition and musical expression. We have been creating walls for the eggs to balance on, bringing the Humpty Dumpty story to life through construction play whilst developing problem-solving skills.
The children have been looking through telescopes like pirates for “When I Was One,” engaging with the narrative through imaginative role play. They have become confident singers and performers, building self-assurance and enjoyment in musical expression. We have been getting messy when singing “Five Currant Buns,” splatting them away and adding a sensory, playful element to our rhyme time.
The children have been celebrating each other this week, building a positive and inclusive classroom community. We have been talking about our favourite objects, colours, and songs, helping children recognise and value individual preferences and differences. We have been discussing the different ways we can be kind to each other, developing empathy and understanding of how our actions affect others. The children have been sharing their ideas when investigating what floats and sinks in the water, practising collaboration and respectful communication during hands-on exploration.
