This week we have been reading our core book “Peace at Last” and identifying environmental sounds from the story, developing listening skills and awareness of the different noises in our world. We celebrated Bonfire Night with popcorn around our pretend glowing fire in the classroom, and it was lovely to include some of our families as part of this with our stay and play session, creating special shared memories and strengthening our home-school connections.
The children have been creating some wonderful sparkling firework themed artwork, using different materials and techniques to represent the excitement of bonfire celebrations. We have been exploring a big pumpkin and decorating it with paint and other art materials, engaging with seasonal produce through creative expression and sensory exploration.
The children have been using blocks to build different environments such as a cinema and a house which we have used for our role play, developing their imaginative thinking and collaborative construction skills whilst creating spaces for storytelling and pretend play.
