This week, Class 2 has been continuing to read our core book “Walking Through the Jungle,” deepening our engagement with the story and its rhythmic language. We have been identifying environmental sounds as part of our Letters and Sounds phonics work, helping children develop their listening skills and awareness of the sounds around them.
The children have been showing interest in using marks to represent their names, an important step in their early writing development as they begin to understand that marks carry meaning. We have been exploring numicon boards and using them to help us count, providing hands-on experiences with number that support mathematical understanding through visual and tactile learning.
In our allotment, we have been digging up lots of potatoes, experiencing the excitement of harvesting and learning about where our food comes from whilst developing gross motor skills through digging and physical outdoor work.
