It has been a busy and productive week for Class 2 at Rosemary Nursery School as the children have been exploring the natural world and preparing for upcoming festivities. A highlight of our week was spending time at the allotment, where the children enjoyed digging through the soil. This hands-on activity led to a fascinating discovery of worms, providing a wonderful opportunity to discuss how these small creatures help our plants to grow. This exploration of nature is a key part of the early years goal of Understanding the World, helping children connect with the environment around them.

Back in the classroom, the children have been working hard on their physical development by practicing their cutting skills. Using scissors to snip through vibrant strips of coloured paper, they then carefully sorted the pieces by colour. This activity is excellent for developing the fine motor control and hand-eye coordination needed for future writing.

Creativity has also been on full display as the children sat down to draw their own self-portraits. This encouraged them to look closely at their own features and express their unique identities through their artwork.

Finally, there is a great deal of anticipation building as we look forward to our nursery school Eid party next week. The children have been using our class calendar to count down the days together, which is a fantastic way to support their early mathematical skills and understanding of time. We are all very much looking forward to celebrating this special occasion together as a school community.
