This week in Willow Class at The Limes, the children have continued their exploration of autumn, discovering the many ways natural materials can spark curiosity and imagination. Conkers and pinecones have been added to different areas of provision, inspiring plenty of creative play. One popular activity was making “Conker soup” in the water tray, where children experimented with mixing, scooping and pouring while chatting together and sharing ideas.

The children have also continued to develop their interest in collaborative artwork using large boxes. By adding feathers and a range of collage materials, they worked alongside one another to create unique designs, expressing their creativity and making decisions together. These experiences support communication, cooperation and imaginative thinking as children explore different ways to represent their ideas.

Out in the garden, the new teepee has quickly become a favourite space. Children have been using it as a quiet place to enjoy stories with friends, as well as a cosy spot for mark-making on clipboards. It has been wonderful to see so many children busy writing shopping lists, using their emerging literacy skills in meaningful and playful ways.
