The Willow Room at The Limes Nursery School has been full of energy and imagination this week as children have continued to explore their interest in vehicles through outdoor play. The garden has become a busy transport hub, with a chalk road carefully created for children to drive around, supporting their physical development as they manoeuvred bikes and ride-on toys with increasing control and confidence.

Children worked together to build large-scale vehicles including cars, a bus and even a train, showing fantastic teamwork and problem-solving as they decided how to construct each one. This shared imaginative play led to exciting journeys to the beach, the swimming pool, the café and the woods, with children developing their communication and language skills as they created stories and negotiated roles within the group.

There has also been a strong focus on turn-taking and social skills, particularly when deciding who would be the driver. Children showed great care and consideration for one another, practising patience and fairness so everyone had a chance. They even made their own tickets for the train, bringing in early maths and mark-making as part of their play.

Overall, it has been wonderful to see such rich, collaborative and imaginative learning growing from the children’s shared interest in vehicles.
