Class 2 at Rosemary Nursery School has been full of curiosity and discovery this week as children explored the natural world right on their doorstep. While enjoying time in the garden, they spotted ladybirds and used magnifying pots to take a closer look, carefully observing their tiny details. The children counted the spots on each ladybird, developing their early maths skills while also building confidence in observing and talking about what they could see.
Back in the classroom, the children had a special visit from PCSO Nick, who shared a story with the group. This experience supported their listening and attention skills as they engaged with the story, and it also opened up meaningful conversations about how the police help to keep people safe. The children were thoughtful in their responses, showing growing understanding of the world around them and the people who help within their community.
There has also been plenty of sensory exploration, with children enjoying the experience of mixing mud and water. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity and experimentation, as well as developing physical skills and language as children described textures and changes they noticed while playing.
