This week in Willow Room at The Limes Nursery School, the children have been making the most of the sunshine and spending lots of time out and about in the garden. After spotting a beautiful snail, their curiosity was sparked and this quickly led to regular minibeast hunts, with the children carefully searching, observing and sharing their discoveries together.
The changing season has also caught the children’s attention. They have been noticing leaves falling from the trees alongside new blossoms growing, which inspired outdoor drawing and leaf rubbing. These experiences supported children’s creativity while encouraging close observation, mark making and conversations about what they could see and feel.
The children have also been delighted by the arrival of a new, larger water tray in the garden. This has led to rich, imaginative play as children filled and poured, made teas and coffees, and raced boats down the guttering. Through this play, children explored early scientific ideas, developed coordination and problem solving skills, and enjoyed collaborating with friends in a relaxed outdoor environment.
