The children have shown an interest in developing their cutting skills, so we provided a tray with a variety of materials for them to practise after modelling how to use different scissors. This focused activity helps children build the hand strength and coordination needed for scissor control whilst gaining confidence in this important fine motor skill.
We’ve been enjoying exploring the first daffodils by introducing them in different places, including the mud kitchen, celebrating the arrival of spring and bringing seasonal flowers into our play. These natural materials inspire creativity and help children connect with the changing seasons whilst adding beauty to their imaginative cooking.
The children showed an interest in wrapping the clay, so we’ve introduced a variety of materials to explore this technique, including pipe cleaners, ribbons, and wool. The children have poked, suspended, wrapped, and threaded the clay, discovering new ways to transform and decorate this versatile material whilst developing fine motor skills through intricate manipulation.
