At The Limes Nursery School, children in Willow class have been enjoying a week filled with discovery and creativity, engaging in activities that support key areas of development within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

A highlight of the week was the creation of a new home for the nursery’s pet Giant African Land Snail, Mojo. This provided a valuable opportunity for children to learn about caring for living things and understanding their needs—an important aspect of personal, social and emotional development in early years education.

Taking advantage of the autumn sunshine, children also ventured into the garden for bug hunts. These outdoor explorations encouraged curiosity about the natural world and supported the development of observation skills and knowledge of living things, in line with the EYFS understanding of the world.

Back indoors, a shared interest in pirates inspired the children to collaborate on building a pirate ship using blocks. This imaginative play fostered teamwork, communication and physical development, while also allowing children to express their ideas and creativity through construction and role play.
