This week, we have been focusing on our block play, both indoors and outdoors, discovering the many possibilities that construction offers. The children have created houses for animals, developing their imaginative play and storytelling whilst thinking about structure and space. They have used blocks to climb and explore, building physical confidence and gross motor skills through active construction play, and to sit on, testing their creations and understanding practical uses for their buildings. This open-ended block play supports mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and spatial awareness whilst encouraging creativity and collaborative building.
