Children in Green Room at The Limes Nursery have been busy exploring colour mixing in a variety of exciting ways. In the water tray, they experimented with combining different colours and watching new shades appear, while larger scale painting activities gave them the chance to be creative and discover how colours change when mixed together. These experiences encouraged children to investigate, predict outcomes and express their ideas through play.

Our core book has been The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has inspired lots of learning across the room. Children have been talking about healthy foods and discussing the different fruits featured in the story. They have also been developing their mathematical skills by counting the fruit together and exploring numbers in a meaningful context. Alongside this, children have been learning Makaton signs linked to the story, including the days of the week, helping to support communication and language development.

During group times, children have been learning the names of different shapes and exploring their features. They enjoyed sorting shapes according to their characteristics, noticing similarities and differences and talking about what makes each shape unique. Through these activities, children have been developing their mathematical thinking, language skills and confidence in sharing their ideas with others.
