Rainbow Room has been full of smiles this week as more new children have joined us. It has been wonderful to see them beginning to settle so well, becoming familiar with their new environment and confidently exploring the range of resources available each day. As children build relationships with staff and their peers, they are growing in confidence and developing a sense of belonging within the room.
We have been spending lots of time sharing books together and enjoying cosy story sessions on the sofa. Our core book this term is Dear Zoo, which has quickly become a favourite. The children have shown great listening skills as they eagerly guessed which animal was hiding behind each flap. Using our matching soft toys, we extended the story by talking about different animals and the sounds they make, helping to develop children’s language and communication skills in a fun and engaging way.
The children have also enjoyed a range of creative experiences, including painting, using glue sticks with tissue paper, mark making with pens on whiteboards and drawing with wax crayons. These activities support children to express their ideas while developing their fine motor skills. Outdoors, the children have had great fun exploring water play and riding bikes, building their physical confidence and coordination as they play.
We are looking forward to another week of learning, exploring and making new friendships together in Rainbow Room.
