It has been wonderful to see children in Class One settling into life at The Limes Nursery School so confidently. Children have been making new friendships across both classes, helping younger children get to know the nursery and supporting one another to use resources independently. It has been a fantastic start to the term, with children showing kindness, confidence and a growing sense of belonging within the nursery community.
Staff have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the children and learning more about their interests. One of the themes emerging through children’s play has been cake making, with children representing cakes in a variety of creative ways. In the sand area, children have been filling tins and adding sticks as candles, while others have been rolling clay into cake shapes and placing them into cake wrappers with matchsticks. Through this imaginative play, children have been developing their creativity, communication skills and problem-solving as they share ideas and explore different materials.
Next week, Class One will begin introducing bread making as part of the weekly routine. Children will have opportunities to bake on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ensuring that everyone has a turn. This experience will support children to develop new skills through cooking, follow simple recipes and explore different ingredients while building confidence and independence in the process.
