Staff from Central Bristol Nursery Schools Federation came together this month for a powerful professional learning session focused on anti-racist practice. Led by Liz Pemberton, The Black Nursery Manager, and Dr Shaddai Tembo, the session created space for open and meaningful discussion.
During the session, Liz Pemberton shared her own experiences alongside a wider conversation about what anti-racist practice looks like in early years settings. The discussion encouraged staff to reflect on their own perspectives and consider how everyday practice can promote fairness, inclusion and respect for all children and families.
Staff engaged thoughtfully with the ideas presented, exploring how anti-racist approaches can be embedded across nursery environments. The session highlighted the importance of listening, learning and challenging assumptions as part of ongoing professional development.
This month’s session has continued to build momentum within the federation’s equalities work. It has inspired staff to deepen their commitment to creating inclusive spaces where every child and family feels seen, valued and supported.
