Willow Room at The Limes Nursery School has had a joyful and memorable start to the term. On Tuesday morning, children enjoyed a family trip to St George’s Park, sharing time with parents and carers and strengthening those important connections between home and nursery. Spending time together in the wider community supports children’s confidence and sense of belonging, and it was lovely to see them exploring, chatting and playing alongside familiar adults in a new environment.

Although Thursday’s planned outing had to be cancelled, the excitement continued back at nursery as children made the most of the rainy weather by splashing in puddles. This spontaneous play brought plenty of laughter and curiosity, as children tested how deep the water was, noticed the sounds and movements they could make, and talked about what they were experiencing. These moments support early scientific thinking and language development, as children describe what they can see and feel and begin to make sense of the world around them.

A particularly special highlight of the week was releasing the butterflies. After carefully observing their journey from caterpillar to butterfly, the children were amazed by the transformation. Letting them go into the wild was a meaningful experience, sparking wonder and thoughtful conversations about growth, change and caring for living things. It was a moment of shared awe that will stay with the children for a long time.

We look forward to rearranging the cancelled trip and continuing our adventures together as the term unfolds.
