Orange Room at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School has been having a wonderful time last week with the much-loved classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and the theme has inspired some really rich and varied learning!
The children have been exploring the story through art, experimenting with colour mixing and painting, and looking closely at patterns and features of the natural world. The good weather has also given the children a brilliant opportunity to head out into the garden on the hunt for insects, making some exciting discoveries along the way.
Most excitingly of all, Orange Room has its very own caterpillars, which we are all eagerly waiting to see transform into butterflies — hopefully not too long now! Next week the children will be continuing with the book, focusing on the days of the week and the feelings in the story.
