This week in the Red Class at The Limes, children have been delighted to see a range of farm animals, including rabbits, a horse, a donkey, alpacas and lambs. Seeing the animals up close sparked lots of excitement and curiosity, with children watching carefully, asking questions and sharing what they already knew.

During group times, children talked together about the different animals and thought about the sounds they might make. These conversations supported children’s listening and speaking skills, as well as helping them to build new vocabulary linked to farm animals and their lives.

Children also learned about how to keep themselves and the animals safe. Staff supported children to think about gentle behaviour, calm movements and following simple rules, helping to develop understanding of safety, care and respect for living things. It was a rich and memorable experience that supported children’s learning across communication, personal development and understanding the world.
