This week we have been loving our new core book “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell, exploring ideas of family and the reassuring theme of if mummy goes away, she always comes back! This gentle story helps children understand separation and reunion whilst providing comfort about important adults returning.
The children have also benefitted from the recent staff training day on clay, experiencing new ways to work with this versatile material. The children used special clay to paint with and feel the sensory properties of this different clay, discovering how it moves and marks on paper. We have also been continuing exploration with the harder clay to flatten, roll, and squash, developing hand strength and fine motor control through manipulation and transformation of the material.
