The children showed an interest in building bridges with the blocks and large loose parts, which we expanded by bringing in different construction materials and sharing photos of a variety of bridges. This exploration helped children understand structural concepts and design whilst connecting their play to real-world engineering.

We also explored making our own books, and the children were thrilled to fill the different pages whilst the older children started developing a narrative to their drawings, showing emerging storytelling skills. We then performed the stories the children came up with as part of our weekly Helicopter Stories session, bringing their written ideas to life through drama and collaborative performance.

The children have also shown an interest in obstacle courses, so we challenged them by building an obstacle course for their bikes using big blocks. This physical challenge developed their gross motor skills, spatial awareness, and problem-solving as they navigated the course whilst building confidence in their physical abilities.
