What a busy first week back we’ve had! The children have been excited to see our new garden artwork and have been interacting with it by making their own marks and pictures, engaging with the vibrant mural whilst adding their own creative contributions. This inspired the children to create their own street art on different areas of the garden too, experimenting with mark-making and artistic expression in the outdoor environment.
We also said goodbye to our giant sunflower by harvesting the seeds and investigating the stem and leaves once we have taken it down, exploring the different parts of the plant and understanding its structure. We talked about planting the seeds from the flower head in the spring and watching a new sunflower grow in its place, helping children understand the lifecycle of plants and the concept of renewal.
We also hosted a Bonfire Night Stay and Play session where parents were able to come with their children and share some firework inspired art provocations and join in with some songs and popcorn around our indoor fire! It was wonderful to bring families together for this special seasonal celebration.
