We’ve been thinking about bonfire night in a few different ways this week. The children have been exploring Jackson Pollock and making big drip paintings outside, discovering how paint moves and splatters whilst creating dynamic artwork inspired by the artist’s energetic style. We’ve also been making huge fireworks in the garden using powder paint, water, and brooms, combining large-scale mark-making with imaginative representation of firework displays whilst developing gross motor skills through sweeping and painting movements.
We’ve also worked hard to set up a new outdoor water area together, which has led to outstanding collaborative play. This teamwork experience has helped children develop problem-solving skills and cooperation while creating a resource they can all enjoy together, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their outdoor learning environment.
