This week, we have been learning about and celebrating Diwali by reading the story of Rama and Sita and making clay Diya lamps. This hands-on experience has helped children understand the significance of the Festival of Lights whilst developing their fine motor skills through shaping and creating their own lamps to take home.
We have been investigating colour mixing using different coloured water, discovering how primary colours combine to create new shades whilst exploring cause and effect through experimentation. The children have been continuing our core book “Shark in the Park,” deepening their engagement with the story’s rhythm and rhyme whilst building confidence with the narrative structure.
We are continuing to celebrate Black History Month by using small world people to celebrate our differences. This helps children recognise and value the rich variety of people, cultures, and backgrounds in our community whilst building their sense of identity and belonging.
