Last week, Class 2 investigated some tree sap that we found in our garden, exploring why it occurs and developing children’s curiosity about the natural world. This activity encouraged them to ask questions about what they observed. We have been exploring colour mixing using different coloured water, discovering how primary colours combine to create new shades whilst developing an understanding of cause and effect.

The children have been enjoying our core book, “Walking Through the Jungle,” which has inspired us to identify animal sounds as part of our Letters and Sounds phonics work, helping children connect spoken sounds with their meanings. We have also been developing fine motor skills using tweezers to pick up and manipulate small objects, building the hand strength and control needed for future writing.

Our autumn messy tray has provided excellent sensory exploration opportunities, allowing children to engage with seasonal materials whilst developing their investigative skills and descriptive language.
