This week in Green Room we have begun to introduce children to one of our core experiences: Baking Bread! This is a purposeful, community-oriented activity where key skills are learned through meaningful, hands-on experience.

The children are being involved in baking bread to share with their peers at snack time, creating a wonderful sense of community and pride in their contributions. Children progress from their first experiences of how to make bread in the kitchen through to developing their competency by becoming more skilled in remembering stages of the baking process and being able to follow the visual representation of a recipe.

These baking experiences support the Early Years Foundation Stage areas of Mathematics through measuring and sequencing, Communication and Language through following instructions and learning new vocabulary, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development through sharing, cooperation, and building confidence. We hope children will begin to share their new skills with you at home!
