The children have been working hard in the allotment this week, using real tools to dig and transport soil whilst exploring what happens when they pour water and experience what the water does to the soil.

Children have also been searching for wildlife and creating their own worm worlds in pots, asking thoughtful questions such as “what do the worms need?”

These outdoor allotment experiences support several areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including Understanding the World through exploring nature and living things, and Communication and Language through asking questions and sharing discoveries. This hands-on outdoor learning has been engaging and enriching for everyone involved.
