One particularly exciting moment happened when children discovered spider webs and watched a live spider in our outdoor space. This unexpected discovery led to fascinating conversations about how spiders make their webs, sparking the children’s scientific thinking and sense of wonder about the natural world around them.
The children have also been exploring our tunnel activities, where they develop their understanding of space by climbing through and over different structures. These physical challenges help strengthen their large muscle development while building confidence in how they move and navigate their environment.
Our approach to outdoor learning at Rosemary Nursery School shows how we can make the most of our urban space to provide rich educational experiences for children. By combining planned activities with opportunities for natural discovery, we help children develop strong foundations in physical, social, and scientific learning while keeping them connected to the natural world, even in our city centre location.
These experiences help children become confident explorers who are curious about their environment and eager to learn more about the world around them.
